How to run both IE6 and IE7 on the same computer to test your scripting and/or XHTML/CSS coding ?
The answer for windows machines is simple :
- Run a virtual machine which has access to the internet or your local machine.
I'll go into the virtual machine below ..
- Or, if you have another machine with LAN/WAN access just install your desired internet browser on that machine.
- If you even want to have more then 2 browsers like IE5 IE6 and IE7 pop over at: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE
Virtual machine:
First, download the core machine, called Virtual PC 2004:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta...laylang=en
Next, go to this page an choose your pre-installed environment with build in IE6 OR IE7 over here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta...laylang=en
Requirements ( quote from the url mentioned above ):
Virtual machine core:
- Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit x86); Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Processor: Athlon®, Duron®, Celeron®, Pentium® II, Pentium III, or Pentium 4
- Processor speed: 400 MHz minimum (1 GHz or higher recommended)
- RAM: Add the RAM requirement for the host operating system that you will be using to the requirement for the guest operating system that you will be using. If you will be using multiple guest operating systems simultaneously, total the requirements for all the guest operating systems that you need to run simultaneously.
- Available disk space: To determine the hard disk space required, add the requirement for each guest operating system that will be installed.
- Virtual PC 2004 SP1 runs on: Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP Professional or later, and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or later.
Requirements ( quote from the url mentioned above ):

- Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP
- You will need a minimum of 1.5 Gig hard drive space free to expand the VHD file.
- You can download the latest version of Virtual PC at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/produc...fault.mspx
