Sometimes Always you need to look further.
The general takeaway is : Ask further, think about the future and broader scope.
This goes beyond the Reuse, Recycle, Repair mindset.
| What | Example why |
| Certified wood. | Glued together, without option for proper dismantling in the future. Or put together in such a way the item breaks within days. |
| A webhost with green energy in the datacenter. | Nice for them, but do they ever take the train of buy secondhand laptops? |
| Vegetarian food (or vegan) at conference dinner. | Excellent, but what if you over-dimension the amount of food? Throwing away is also not sustainable. |
| A small (20 meters) windmill to generate electrical power. | Think about all resources used to make such a windmill. In this case you really need to upscale. |
| Hydrogen generation. | A LOT of energy is wasted creating hydrogen. Therefore creating proper green/sustainable hydrogen is only best when used with excess power that would otherwise be thrown away. |
| Equipment / toys with build in, non replaceable, chargeable battery. | When it ages, you need to charge more often. Over time the item becomes unusable. Why not allow for normal rechargeable batteries you can buy and put in it yourself? |
| Recyled plastic membercards. | That are replace each year. |
