Here we go Smile

I'm burning the ISO image as we speak, XP is running "fine" but I think I'll switch to ubuntu in the end. Having a dual boot is the first step I have to take.

I allready have a spare laptop ( really old: 2.66ghz intel, 1gb ram, 64?mb shared video, 40GB IDE hdd ) and a desktop running ubuntu and I am a really happy man using that OS !

So that's it, burning is complete, here we go !

Well that went smoothly !!

I was surprized by the new GUI slider to make a new partition and create a dual boot system. That was really really really easy Smile

Now I have to deal with evolution because it seams to dislike my emailserver ...
Ow and make sure my backup server is still capable of making backups of this harddrive ( because is was a windows share ) ..

Installed LAMP using these tutorials:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP
http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu_debian_lamp_server

Which was really helpfull as I used sudo:

Quote:
if you want to make /var/www your own. (Use only for non-production web servers - this is not the most secure way to do things.)

Code:
$ sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /var/www
